A gate intercom used to be a speaker box and a landline. Today it is a camera, a microphone, and an app: a visitor presses the button, your phone rings with live video, and you open the gate from wherever you are. If you are not home, you can still let the plumber in and watch him leave.

How a video intercom works
The unit mounts on a post or pedestal at the gate. When a visitor presses the call button, it streams video and audio to your phone or a wall station inside. You can talk, open the gate, or ignore it. Most systems also let you issue a one-time PIN or QR pass to a delivery driver or contractor and see a log of every entry.

Cellular vs. hardwired
Cellular intercoms like the CellGate Watchman need only power at the gate, which makes them the right answer for long drives, acreage, and any property where trenching data to the gate is not practical. Hardwired IP intercoms make sense when the gate is close to the building and you want no monthly cellular plan. We quote both when both are viable.
Estate and multi-entry properties
For estates with a main gate and a service entry, or properties with staff and frequent deliveries, we set up user groups, schedules, and separate credentials so the landscaper's code works Tuesday mornings and nothing else. We can integrate with Control4, Savant, and Crestron where the home already runs on one of them.

Apartment communities, office parks, storage facilities, and gated business parks use video intercoms with tenant directories so residents and tenants get calls on their phones, not a landline in an office nobody staffs after five.

Does a gate video intercom need a landline?+
No. Modern systems run on cellular or internet. We replace old landline telephone entry units regularly because the phone line was cancelled or the copper failed.
Can I answer the gate when I am out of town?+
Yes. The call goes to your phone anywhere you have service. You can see the visitor, talk, and open the gate.
Can I give a contractor temporary access?+
Yes. CellGate and similar platforms let you send a PIN or QR pass that expires when you say. The entry is logged with a photo.
Will it work with my existing gate opener?+
Almost always. The intercom connects to the operator's open input. We confirm compatibility during the site visit.
Is there a monthly fee?+
