The LA400 is LiftMaster's standard residential swing operator and the LA500 is its heavier sibling for larger and heavier leaves. Both are DC operators with battery backup, both support myQ app control on current versions, and both are on a large share of the gates we service across Houston.

Which one you need
The LA400 handles typical residential swing leaves. The LA500 is for heavier ornamental iron, longer leaves, and gates that see more cycles. We size by leaf weight and length, not by what is on sale. Putting an LA400 on a heavy iron gate is the most common cause of premature failure we see.

myQ setup and access control
We connect the operator to myQ, add keypads, remotes, and photo-eyes, and integrate CellGate or a video intercom for gates where you want to see visitors. myQ handles open, close, alerts, and schedules; CellGate adds video and visitor passes.
Replacing an older operator
The LA400 and LA500 are our standard replacements for failed Elite, Apollo, and older LiftMaster swing units. We reuse posts and existing access devices where they are sound and the install usually takes a day.

What is the difference between the LA400 and LA500?+
The LA500 is rated for heavier and longer gate leaves and more cycles. We choose by leaf weight and length.
Why is my LA400 beeping?+
Usually the operator is running on battery because the charger or incoming power has failed, or a fault code is being signaled. We diagnose it on the service call.
Does the LA400 work with solar?+
Yes. It is a DC operator and LiftMaster offers a solar option. We size the panel to your cycle count.
Can you add myQ to an older LA400?+
Current LA400 and LA500 units support myQ. Older versions may need an internet gateway or an operator upgrade. We check the model on the service call.
Do you carry LA400 parts?+
