Most camera installers in Houston have never wired a gate operator. Most gate companies do not touch cameras. Texas Gates does both, which is the whole point: the camera at your gate should trigger when the gate moves, record who punched in a code, and show you a live view before you buzz someone through.

We spec cameras to the entry, not from a catalog page. A residential driveway gate usually needs one camera at the keypad post and one covering the approach. A commercial yard needs coverage on the gate, the approach lane, and the exit loop so you can match plates to entries.

Cameras that talk to your gate
When a camera is part of the access system instead of a separate app, you get the events that matter: a snapshot on every gate open, a clip when someone enters a code, a live feed when a visitor presses the call button. We wire the camera into the operator's input board or into a CellGate or DoorKing controller so those events fire automatically.
Wiring, power, and network
Houston clay, flooded conduit, and 200-foot driveways are where camera installs go wrong. We trench and sleeve conduit properly, run PoE from a protected switch, and use cellular or point-to-point wireless where a hard line does not make sense. Everything is surge protected because lightning is not optional here.

Do I need Wi-Fi at the gate for a camera?+
No. We run PoE over buried conduit when possible. Where that is not practical, we use cellular-connected cameras or a point-to-point wireless bridge back to the house or office.
Will the camera record when the gate opens?+
When it is integrated with the operator or access controller, yes. We configure event-based recording so every gate cycle, keypad entry, and call-button press captures a clip.
How much does gate camera installation cost in Houston?+
