A gate that hums but doesn’t move is usually a failed capacitor or seized motor. One that opens partway and reverses is a photo eye or force setting. Dead after a storm means the surge took the board. Slow and straining means an undersized operator or worn gearbox. Won’t close and stays open points to a safety loop or timer-to-close fault. A capacitor, board, or limit switch on a solid operator is almost always worth repairing. A stripped gearbox on a discontinued unit, or a residential operator that’s been straining on a gate too heavy for it, usually isn’t. We diagnose, quote both options in writing, and let you decide.
When you replace, we size the new operator to the gate’s actual weight, length, and daily cycle count — the single most common reason openers fail early is that the last installer put in the cheapest one that fit.

The Woodlands and Benders Landing skew LiftMaster and Viking on newer builds.
