Ornamental Iron Gates Built to Last Decades

Most custom gates in Houston are stock panels from a supplier, trimmed to fit. Ours aren’t. Texas Gates fabricates every ornamental iron gate in our own shop — frame, pickets, scrollwork, arches, and infill — to the exact dimensions of your driveway and the design you approve. Then our crew installs it, automates it, and warranties it. One company, start to finish.

What We Build

Estate swing gates: dual-leaf ornamental iron with arched or flat tops, finials, castings, and scrollwork — the look River Oaks, Memorial, and Champions Forest are known for. Full-radius and segmental arches formed in-house.

Wood and composite infill: iron frame with cedar, ipe, or composite slats for privacy without losing structure — popular in The Woodlands and Kingwood. Slide and cantilever iron gates with heavy frames engineered for wide openings and high cycles.

Pedestrian gates and matching iron fence, picket-for-picket with your driveway gate. Address plates, monograms, and custom welded steel lettering — including replacement letters for existing entry gates. And pipe-and-iron ranch entries with custom overhead signage.

Materials and Finish

Steel tube and solid pickets sized to the span, welded — not screwed — joints, and a finish built for Houston humidity: sandblast or grind, zinc-rich primer, and powder coat or industrial enamel. Aluminum is available where weight or coastal corrosion is the priority. Hinges are heavy-duty ball-bearing or weld-on, sized to the leaf.

Rust-through, cracked welds, sagging leaves, broken pickets, and missing scrollwork on existing iron gates — we repair and re-finish rather than replace when the frame is sound.

Local Knowledge

Houston’s humidity and clay soil are what kill iron gates: rust from a cheap finish, and sag from posts that moved. We set hinge posts in deep footings and finish every gate with primer and topcoat rated for the Gulf Coast. HOA architectural committees in Spring’s master-planned communities usually want drawings — we provide them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q
Do you design the gate or do I bring a design?
Either. Bring a photo, a sketch, or a description; we draw it to your opening and adjust until you approve.
Q
How long does a custom iron gate take?
Most residential gates are fabricated and installed within 1–2 weeks of quote approval. Elaborate scrollwork or large estate gates can run longer; we give you the timeline up front.
Q
Can you match my existing iron fence?
Yes. We match picket spacing, finials, and finish so the gate reads as original.
Q
Powder coat or paint?
Powder coat for the longest life; industrial enamel where on-site touch-up matters. We’ll recommend based on the design and exposure.
Q
Do you build the fence too?
Yes — iron, aluminum, wood, and ranch fencing by the same crew.
