Sized to your gate · All major brands · Programmed and tested on site
The operator is the part of a gate system most likely to be specified wrong. An undersized unit on a heavy gate runs at its limit on every cycle and fails in two to four years; a correctly sized one lasts ten to fifteen. We size to the actual weight, width, and daily cycle count of your gate — not to whatever fits the budget line on a competing quote.
We install and service every major brand in the Houston market: LiftMaster, Viking, Apollo/Nice, DoorKing, US Automatic, and Eagle. That matters for repairs, because each has its own control boards, wiring, and quirks. A company that only knows one brand cannot properly adjust yours.
Two things we never leave off a Houston install: surge protection, because lightning kills more control boards here than any other cause, and battery backup, because outages are routine and a gate you cannot open during one is a real problem.
For gates far from the house with no practical power run, solar removes the trenching entirely. Texas sun makes it viable almost everywhere — the reason solar has a mixed reputation is undersized panels and cheap batteries, not the technology.
We size the panel and battery bank to your gate’s weight and realistic daily cycle count, with margin for cloudy stretches and for the efficiency loss that comes with summer heat. Done properly, a solar gate on Houston-area acreage runs year-round without a thought.
Under UL 325, an automatic gate needs two independent means of entrapment protection in each direction of travel. The operator’s built-in obstruction sensing is one; the second has to be an external device — photo eyes or a safety edge. A correctly rated operator installed without its safety devices is not a safe gate.
We install, align, and test entrapment protection on every operator job, and we test it again on every service visit. If your gate has been reversing and someone turned the force up to stop it, that is a safety feature that has been disabled — and it usually means the gate itself needs mechanical work.
We write up the questions we get asked most often. These cover this service in more depth:
We diagnose operators of every major brand and size new ones to the gate you actually have.
