Custom Gate Installation in Houston

Every gate we install is built for the opening it goes into. We measure the driveway, check the slope in both directions, look at where power is and how far it has to run, and note where water sits after rain — then design a gate around what the site will actually support. No prefab panels forced to fit.

Fabrication happens in our own shop, which is what makes a gate truly square rather than close enough. The frame is cut and welded on a level surface, pickets and any ornamental work are fitted, and the finish goes on before the gate ever comes to your property.

Then our own crew installs it. Not a subcontractor, not a day labor crew — the same people who built it. That matters most at the two steps where installs go wrong: setting the posts and sizing the operator.

Gate Styles We Build

  • Ornamental iron — arched, inverted arch, or flat top, with custom scrollwork
  • Modern horizontal slat and tube designs
  • Wood infill on a steel frame for privacy
  • Solid and louvered privacy panels
  • Pipe and wire ranch gates for acreage entrances
  • Slide and cantilever gates for sloped or tight-clearance sites
  • Matching pedestrian gates and fence sections
  • Custom designs drawn to match your home’s architecture

Built for Houston Ground

The number one cause of gate failure in this city is not the gate or the operator — it is the dirt. Houston’s expansive clay swells when it rains and shrinks when it dries, and a post set shallow in a straight-sided hole gets pushed a little further out of plumb every season until the gate drags and the latch misses.

We auger deep and bell the bottom of the footing so the concrete cannot be lifted by the soil, set posts plumb and braced, and let the concrete cure before any weight goes on it. On a two-day install, that is the whole reason there are two days.

The second thing we do not shortcut is operator sizing. An operator running at its limit on every cycle fails in a few years; one sized to the actual weight and daily cycle count of the gate lasts a decade or more. We weigh the gate we built rather than guessing from a chart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q
How long does a gate installation take?
From approved design to working gate is usually three to six weeks, and most of that is fabrication and, where applicable, HOA approval. The on-site portion is typically two days: one for locates, posts, and conduit, and one after the concrete cures for hanging the gate, wiring the operator, and testing.
Q
Do I need HOA approval?
In most deed-restricted Houston neighborhoods, yes. The architectural review committee approves the design before installation. We prepare the submission package with drawings and specifications, which is what gets it approved on the first pass.
Q
Can you automate a gate I already have?
Usually. We check that the posts, hinges, and frame can take the added stress, reinforce where the arm attaches if needed, and size the operator to the real weight of the existing gate. It is one of our most common requests on older ornamental gates.
Q
What if there is no power at my gate?
Two options: trench conduit from the panel, or a solar package. Texas sun makes solar viable almost everywhere as long as the panel and battery are sized for the gate weight and daily cycle count.
Q
Do you install the fence too?
We build matching pedestrian gates and fence sections to tie into the driveway gate. For large fence runs we can coordinate with your fence contractor so the gate and fence line up properly.
